30-Second Summary: The Winter Solstice has passed, meaning longer days are officially on their way. Since shipping deadlines have passed, we aren't selling today—we are reflecting. Thank you for a sustainable 2025. If you are lucky enough to be heading south for the holidays, remember that winter UV rays are deceptive; check our Winter Travel Packing List before you fly.
If you are reading this amidst a pile of wrapping paper, cookie dough, or travel suitcases— take a deep breath. You made it.
Today marks a special moment that we love here at Handy Beach Goods. We just passed the Winter Solstice.
That means that technically, the "darkest" days are behind us. Starting tomorrow, every single day gets a little bit longer, a little bit brighter, and brings us one step closer to beach season.
Since the holiday rush is winding down, we wanted to skip the sales pitch and simply say Thank You.
A Look Back at 2025
Because of families like yours choosing to shop sustainably this year, we’ve been able to keep thousands of plastic bottles out of landfills and oceans.
Whether you used your Handy Beach Umbrella for a windy day on Cape Cod, or a winter escape to Key Biscayne—you were part of that change. Every canopy we ship proves that high-performance gear doesn't have to come at the planet's expense. (Read more about how we turn bottles into beach gear here).
Heading South for the Holidays?
If you are one of the lucky ones trading snow boots for flip-flops this week, a quick reminder from one mom to another: Winter sun is deceptive.
Even if the air feels cool, UV rays reflect off the sand and water just as strongly in December as they do in July. Enjoy the vitamin D, but keep your Sun Safety System in check:
- Anchor Deep: Winter winds can be gusty.
- Layer Up: Rash guards are great for cooler water temps.
- Reapply: The sun is lower in the sky, but the burn risk is real.
See You in the Sun
We are going to take a few days to recharge, enjoy our families, and maybe even catch a sunset or two. We hope you get to do the same.
From our family to yours, we wish you a safe, happy, and plastic-free holiday season.
Here’s to longer days and warmer breezes in 2026!
Warmly,
Agnes
