Handy Beach Umbrella with 10-Second Hammer-In Sand Anchor — Wind-Resistant 7ft
Wind-resistant by design and independently wind tunnel tested and compliant with ASTM F3681 — held at increasing speeds up to 30 mph, then at 30 mph for a further 30 minutes, without failing. The deep-set anchor drives two feet into the sand, the reinforced frame keeps your shade steady, and setup takes about ten seconds, with no digging and no sandbags.
The canopy carries a reflective silver layer on its top surface, so it bounces UV and heat away before the fabric can absorb them — which is why the air underneath stays noticeably cooler than under a dark canopy. It was independently lab measured at 0.008% UV transmission, meaning 99.99% of UV is blocked. With durable hardware and a 7-foot canopy made from recycled fabric, it's built to last season after season.

PREMIUM FEATURES
10-SECOND, SANDBAG-FREE SETUP
Set up your shade in just 10 seconds. This built-in hammering mechanism eliminates all digging, twisting, and heavy sandbags. It works in soft, hard, wet, or dry sand, making setup easy for anyone.
WIND-RESISTANT & SECURE
Our anchor has been independently wind tunnel tested and compliant with the ASTM F3681 Safety Specification at wind speeds up to 30 mph. The reinforced 8mm rib design and wind-dissipating vent let the canopy flex and spill gusts rather than fight them.
(Always adhere to the product installation instructions, see FAQ section for more details).
BETTER SUN & HEAT PROTECTION
0.008% UV transmission. 99.99% blocked, independently lab measured.
UPF labels stop at 50+, so a fabric passing 2% and ours passing 0.008% read the same on the tag — a 250× difference the label can’t show you. The silver top layer reflects UV and heat away before the fabric absorbs them, so the shade stays cooler, not hotter.
BUILT TO LAST
The heavy-duty 4.8 lb anchor, crafted from corrosion-resistant steel, is paired with durable 8mm fiberglass ribs. This is highly reliable, quality beach gear engineered for season-after-season use.

EASY TO CARRY
Comes in a durable, roomy carry bag with a padded shoulder strap for comfort and two reinforced storage pockets. Everything fits back inside the first time without the struggle. Easy setup starts with easy transport, and a great beach day ends with frustration-free packing.

PLANET KIND
Our canopy fabric is crafted from Certified RPET (recycled plastic bottles). Every umbrella purchase helps cut down plastic waste and supports our mission to keep beaches clean.
LEARN MOREFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I set up the Handy Beach Umbrella & Anchor?
You hammer the anchor into the sand until it reaches the blue collar, drop your umbrella pole in, and tighten the knob. No digging, no sandbags, no tools, and it takes about ten seconds once you've done it once.
The full walkthrough, with video, is in our Setup & Wind Safety Guide.
How does the Handy umbrella withstand winds?
Wind resistance starts underground. Three parts work together:
1. Subsurface Steel Anchor. The built-in slide hammer drives our solid steel stake two feet down, past the loose dry sand at the surface and into the damp, compacted sand underneath. What holds it there isn't the weight of the anchor itself — it's all the packed sand that would have to move before the anchor could. The blue collar marks the depth we tested to.
2. Pressure-Release Vent. A vent at the top of the canopy lets high-pressure air escape, reducing the lift that can otherwise turn an umbrella into a wing.
3. Flexible 8mm Fiberglass Ribs. The ribs flex and spring back rather than snapping, spilling sudden gusts off the sides instead of fighting them.
How much does it weigh?
9.2 lbs in total — a 4.8 lb steel anchor and a 4.4 lb canopy — and it comes in an easy to carry bag with a padded strap.
The weight is deliberate. The steel anchor is also the hammer, and its mass is what delivers the force on each stroke, which is how the stake reaches two feet in a matter of seconds. Our steel anchor stands up to salt, and years of use, which is why we're comfortable warrantying it for five years.
How much sun protection does the canopy give?
The silver canopy was independently lab tested and blocks 99.99% of UV rays.
Sun protection fabric is rated on the UPF scale, which is capped at 50+ — that's the highest rating any fabric is allowed to carry, no matter how far past it the fabric actually performs. Ours tested far beyond that ceiling.
A thin, light shade fabric can't do this. It lets a meaningful amount of UV straight through, which is why you can still burn sitting under one. Our canopy is a dense woven silver fabric that reflects UV rather than filtering it — and reflects heat with it, so it stays noticeably cooler underneath.
Does this umbrella require digging or heavy sandbags to stay secure?
The Handy anchor needs no digging and no sandbags — a built-in hammering mechanism drives a steel stake two feet into the sand in about ten seconds.
Sandbags work by sitting on top of the sand and adding weight. The Handy anchor works by going under it. Two feet down, the sand is damp and compacted, and all of it has to be pushed aside before the anchor can move — which is what holds your umbrella in place. It's the same principle whether you set up in soft dry sand or hard-packed sand near the water.
What wind speed does the Handy Beach Umbrella and Anchor System handle?
The system has been independently wind tunnel tested at speeds up to 30 mph, in line with ASTM F3681, the Safety Specification for Beach Umbrellas and Anchor Devices.
It's tested at 30 mph because gusts on a beach can be more than three times the prevailing wind and take beachgoers by surprise. For reference, 30 mph on a beach is genuinely unpleasant — sand gets whipped up and personal items blow around. Most people find 0–15 mph comfortable for a beach day.
So the 30 mph test result isn't the weather you'll sit in. It's the margin above it. When an unexpected gust comes through on an ordinary day, the system is built well inside what it's been tested to handle.
What is ASTM F3681?
A voluntary wind-safety standard for beach umbrellas and anchors, published by ASTM International. It specifies independent testing in which the umbrella and anchor must remain intact through wind tunnel testing at speeds up to 30 mph.
What is your policy on shipping and returns for this product?
Free shipping across the contiguous USA.
You have 30 days from delivery to try it on a real beach. If it isn’t right, return it for a refund of the purchase price — we email you a prepaid label, so there’s nothing to pay upfront and no trip to the post office. The label cost comes out of the refund.
The anchor carries a 5-year warranty and the canopy 2 years. Maintenance kits, replacement canopies, carry bags and anchor parts are all sold separately, so one worn part never means replacing the whole system.
Is the Handy umbrella allowed on all beaches?
A growing number of beaches now restrict or ban large shade structures — cabanas, tents, canopies and shade sails — because they block sightlines for lifeguards and are hard to secure in wind.
Myrtle Beach, SC allows only umbrellas, up to 7½ feet across, through peak season. Rehoboth Beach, DE bans tents and canopies outright, permits umbrellas, and requires that shade be anchored so it can't move in the wind.
The Handy umbrella is 7 feet across and comes with an anchor independently tested and compliant with ASTM F3681. It sits inside both limits, with the anchoring requirement already taken care of.
Rules vary by town and by season — we track the major ones in our guide to the 2026 canopy bans
How many people does it shade?
The 7ft canopy gives 38 sq ft of shade — comfortable for two adults on chairs or towels, or a small family. Two umbrellas give 76 sq ft for $299.98, more coverage than a sail shade and comparable to a medium cabana.
Will it work in hard-packed sand?
Yes. The steel tip is built to punch through hard-packed sand, and it works in the dense wet sand near the waterline as well as in dry, loose sand higher up the beach.
If you hit a shell bed or a rock and the anchor stops early, pull it up, move about a foot away, and start again.
