The Handy Beach Anchor is designed to fit beach umbrellas that have a canopy pole size of 1.1” (28mm).
The canopy pole slides snuggly into the anchor shaft where it is held tightly in place.
Can the Handy Beach Anchor be used with an umbrella that already has a corkscrew, auger or spike on its base pole?
Yes. The Handy Beach Anchor is an all-in-one base pole and sand anchor. The standard pole and anchor that came with your umbrella is entirely replaced by the Handy Beach Anchor.
How heavy is the Handy Beach Anchor?
The Handy Beach Anchor weighs 4.8lbs. It’s heavier than your standard beach umbrella pole but remember you don’t need that pole anymore so you are not carrying anything additional to the beach. This sand anchor is very portable and makes the lightest umbrellas more secure in the wind.
Is the Handy Beach Anchor another beach accessory that I’ll have to carry to the beach?
No! Handy Beach Anchor is your new all-in-one umbrella stand, base pole and sand anchor. You won't need to carry any additional beach equipment with you when going to the beach. You can leave the umbrella pole that came with your beach umbrella at home. If your using a sandbag, hooks, shovel or other tools to help you secure your umbrella you won't be requiring those anymore either. This means you don't need to remember lots of extra pieces to set up your umbrella nor will you be faced with the frustrating prospect of loosing pieces at the beach or forgetting them at home.
What wind speed does the Handy Beach Anchor handle?
The anchor has been wind tunnel tested in winds up to 30 mph as per the wind tunnel test in ASTM F3681-24 (Safety Specification for Beach Umbrellas and Anchor Devices). The reason the umbrella was tested to 30 mph as per the Standard is because gusts can be more than 3 times the prevailing wind and can take beachgoers by surprise.
What is ASTM-3681-24?
ASTM F3681 is a safety standard that makes sure beach umbrellas stay securely anchored in windy conditions. It sets rules for how umbrellas and their anchors should be tested to make sure they don’t fly away and cause injuries. The wind tunnel test requires that a fully assembled umbrella must withstand wind speeds up to 30 miles per hour for 30 minutes without failing, tipping, or coming loose.
What are the installation instructions for my Handy Beach Anchor?
Please adhere to the below installation instructions for your safety and comfort.
1. Place stake (bottom section) of the anchor on the beach terrain, open the bottom knob (twist anti-clockwise) to engage the internal hammering mechanism. Raise the shaft of the anchor by pulling it directly upwards before lowering it with force onto the stake. This continuous action will penetrate the beach terrain.
2. VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the stake is fully submerged up to the neckline of the lower blue collar. Tighten the bottom knob to lock the hammer (twist clockwise). If the anchor pole wobbles after installation or the stake is not fully submerged it may not be secure. You should re-install.
3. Insert your canopy pole at least 6" into the anchor shaft (top section) to avoid damage to the top collar. Tighten the top knob (twist clockwise). Do not insert a canopy pole less than 1.1" in diameter as it will not be secured by the knob.
Is it easy to take down my Handy Beach Anchor if it grips so well?
Yes! Gently stir the top of anchor in the ground and then lift it up and out of the terrain. You won't need to kneel down or pull too hard.
